Abnormal cervical cells

Abnormal cervical cells: a possible early warning sign of cervical cancer

Abnormal cervical cells are cells in the lining of the cervix that have changed in appearance. These changes are often called cervical dysplasia and are detected through cervical smear tests. The more severe the cervical abnormality is, the more likely it is that cervical cancer could develop in the future. In most cases, this process can take a number of years, but in more rare cases it can occur in a shorter time span. Below you can see an image progression of abnormal cervical cells.
